First "and maybe only" trip to the dealership for service..

Dropped it off last night to get my front control arms replaced. They called this morning and told me that when they pulled it in to start it wasn't running very well.. likely needed new spark plugs, a fuel system clean and had some vacuum issues and they'd have to do all that BEFORE they could see what else was wrong.

Nice try.. fix what I brought my car in for and that's IT.

I would've loved to do that. Don't have the tools or the know how unfortunately. A friend of mine does his own work but he has a Acura and something as important as steering I didn't want to take any chances. Plus it will be warrantied through the dealer in case anything does go wrong.

most decent indy shops should warranty their parts and labor for a year still, if that was your main reason for heading to a dealership.

Nah, my buddy does his work in his dads shop. It wasn't going to be invoiced or anything so there wouldn't have been any kind of warranty. I know of a shop that I use to go to all the time but they quoted me higher on the job than what the dealership charged and that wasn't even including alignment.

well personally i tend to hate dealerships but I am kind of biased in my situation. One of my friends dads / uncle own all of the vw/audi dealerships in my area and my buddy works at the parts desk of the audi dealership. I get wholesale prices on everything and free inspections, advice ect. Even still, the audi dealership around my area is GREAT, nothing but good things to say about them. This dealership is involved in aftermarket as well, stocking brembo, neuspeed, borla ect and they also do giac chipping and carry forge dv's. They arent just about the new car sales but also about guys like us who are enthusiasts (most of the guys who work there are aswell)

The 2.8L's have issues on cold or hot starts if the CTS is a little out of whack or the plugs are worn. It's pretty common for them to start like crap on cold days. That could be what they were after.

Wouldn't doubt it.. seeing as how the car had only been started once in the past 10 days or so, and yeah it's been a bit nippley lately.
