Thumbs up Shocks/springs or coilovers under $750? srry if repost

FIRST OFF. thanks for reading my long post and contributing your opinions.. I really just want to make sure i get my suspension just how i want it before i go and waste all the money i have been saving for this operation

    I have a 1997 audi a4 2.8 v6
. I AM FINALLY RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER TO GETTING SUSPENSION!!

I do NOT want to spend more then $750 on suspension, maybe more after alignment but no more then $750 for the parts.

-I am mostly getting suspension for looks (cant hang with the 4x4 look no more)
-less body roll and tighter, better handling
    -stiffness
-want strong, stiff enough suspension so i can rely on driving 4 passengers and some extra weight around with no problems.
-not going to track the car
-dont want it super slammed and would like about a 2 finger gap. A little lower in the back obviously compared to the front.

Current stock suspension measurements. prob blown shocks by now @ 123k and 11+ years old. ha

Ground to middle of fender measurements

    -Front Driver side=27.25 inches
    -Front Pass side =27.50 inches
    -Rear Driver side =27.25 inches
    -Rear Pass side =27.25 inches

    Fender to tire gap measurements
-Front =3.5 inch gap / 5-6 finger gap
-Rear =3 inch gap / 4 finger gap

after looking at the actual inches of the gap and what not, it seems sport springs would barley even make my car look low, maybe because my car just sits so high... so now im just really not sure if race will be to low or sport will be to high, i dont need it slammed pretty low i just want it to definitely look lower then a stock sport audi and maybe a stock sport beamer, even though beamers look pretty slammed with sport susp IMO.
A few links to some suspension i was considering...

this one just popped up, and its looking good

obviously with some shocks of whatever goes good with these springs.

i would obviously buy 4 of them and get some nice springs to match.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT I WOULD BE GETTING BILLIES BUT THE MORE I READ I FIND OUT THAT THEY DONT GO WELL WITH QUITE I FEW SPRINGS AND CAN BE RATHER HARSH

I would like to be able to have some give when i push down on my car to feel the "stiffness" but would like it to be stiffer then a sport susp audi which i pushed down on the other day(a friends sport 00 v6 a4) and it felt a good bit stiffer then a stock susp audi but would like it a little stiffer.

OK GUYS WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!

Re: Shocks/springs or coilovers under $750? srry if repost

Due to the low spring rates, these wouldn't be good if you are planning on going extremely low. And I'm definitely not saying I recommend these, but it seems you're on a budget and it isn't going to get any cheaper than this:

$599 - additional 20% off coupon (on website) = ~$479 for full coilovers

    http://www.stratmosphere.com/vmaxx.htm

But I can recommend the standard Vogtland coilover. My brother has them in his 01 A4 1.8TQM (^ bought them from PureMS actually). It handles great and it feels great. It's a little out of your price range, but they are worth it.

Dont waste your time or money on the Vmaxx coilovers. Unless you can find some used coilovers in your price range, just get a solid spring and shock combo.
Id go with the Bilstein sport shocks and the H&R race springs. Some sites have package deals on them too.

Re: Shocks/springs or coilovers under $750? srry if repost

First and foremost, when doing suspension (especially coilovers and dampers), always ask "Do they come with a lifetime warranty?" If you're not getting a lifetime warranty on your suspension components, then why bother? $500 for coilovers? Are you sure you want to do that? Each and every one of these coilover manufacturers (you can use your imagination on whom I'm referring to) that offer these too-good-to-be-true priced coilovers are only offering one or two or three year warranties on them. Why?

The same applies to shocks. If you're not using KONI or Bilstein dampers on your B5 then you're not using the best - both of which offer lifetime warranties on their dampers. $750 is within a budget to do a quality shock and spring kit with Bilstein, NEUSPEED, H&R, KONI, Eibach, etc. If you're looking do something with one of those lines, send us a PM for some personal consultation on what might work best for you, your driving habits, and for what you're trying to do with the car.

Re: Shocks/springs or coilovers under $750? srry if repost

thanks for the replys dudes, its really helping me out. I am NOT going with v maxx EVER!!! (step brothers haha)

I am leaning on the vogtlands and billies, i do not want my car to be slammed on h&r race, its to low for me im almost positive, i want to be able to get to the snow and drive through it with no worries.

Any pics of the vogtlands on a b5? 1.4 inch drop seems pretty nice, maybe not enough though im not sure...

with what my car is measured at now... the average front being 27.5 inches from ground to the fender...

27.5-1.4 inches =26.1 inches That is what my car SHOULD be at right...

From looking at a previous post something with h&r sport springs, there ground to fender hieght was around 25 or 25.5 at MOST.

So maybe those springs arent going to be low enough.. I really dont know.
