    Pixels dying.. Ahhh

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Started the car up this morning, and close to %50 of the pixels were dimmed out and it took a good 15 min for them to come back to full color.. I havent really driven the car to much in the last 4 months, nor have i started in about a month, so im hoping its just from that

    * Crosses fingers.

Sounds like you have the oposite problem that I do. Mine go out in hot weather and are perfect in cold weather.

Sometimes in the cold it would take them 5 minutes to come in clear. They wouldn't be dead, they would just be fubar'd.

Is there any actual fix for this?

Half of mine are dead as well. Very annoying when trying to view gas mileage, etc.

The only fix is replacement or refurbishment. There are a couple of companies out that do them.

Put a gauge pod in front of it and it will fix the problem.

100 bux seems pretty fair. I wonder what the install entails.

Mine go in and out. Usually when it is warmer it is fine. When it is cold it takes a while for them to all come back.

I just turn it off in the winter or when they are messed up.

the install is pretty involved guys ... it involves some .5mm x .5mm spacing soldering. of course you are more than welcome to try it yourself if you have the balls

also realigning the needles in the correct spot is a bitch, not hard ... just a bitch

it's some tight space work and soldering... on crap like that, I know I will mess it up so the extra money is eh, worth it. haha

So for 200 USD, you will remanufacture my display? Plus shipping I assume, is there any guarantee with that?

I wouldn't dare try my luck with soldering, especially in a tight space like that.

DxC put me down for the $200 service... maybe in a few months or so. in my old car (120k) pixels were god damn near perfect 9 days out of 10. new car, 70k (and literally the only thing i have to complain about) pixels are shot to shit. weird

If I were to do this, I'd buy a cheap core so I wouldn't have to worry about turn around time. I've never really cared since buying the car though, just turned it off. I'd probably get really distracted if it were to actually work and end up crashing into something while watching it..

Ya, most days mine is fine, but when it is bad i just turn it off. My MPG reading is off anyway and when i fill up it says i can go 440+ miles but i end up only being able to go like 220 :( Only thing i really care about is the temp outside

Yeah, what's up with that? I always get over 300 unless I would spirit drive the most of the tank. Definitely would say around 450 if I am babying it on the highway right after fill up.

Yeah, I meant what's up with the tease of getting 450 on a tank. I know how 60 injectors and stage 3+ tuning can lead on gas millage, but I still am waiting for the day to have that .
