rims stolen

Well my girlfriend just called me and told me her house was broken into and the only thing they took were my rims and tires. She just bought the house and has not moved in yet. We've been painting and updating stuff on the weekends, and her father went up today and found the door open. We know it was locked. I thought she had changed the locks, but apperently she did not. So we THINK we know who did this. The old woman that owned the house had some caregivers that had keys to the house. i am not sure right now if anything else was taken. We'll see what the cops say later.

You know, I left them outside of my place stacked up in my back yard in a "questionable" area with no problems. Put them in the basement a couple weeks ago, and they got stolen. Fucking deadbeats.

Keep an eye on ebay, craigslist, and at local pawn shops. Thiefs are dumb if in fact they were stolen.

Thanks. I don't mind the mud flaps actually. My old car got pretty chipped up from all the little pebbles on the road, and these seem to keep that from happening. I bought them off someone on this site. They are NZO rims, which are pretty rare. The company is no longer in business and you just cannot find them. So if they pop up, pretty good chance they are mine.

suggestion number 2..change all the house locks

Already changed one. Her cousin said he'd do it (he's a contractor do it all kinda guy). He did one then said he had to go home cause his wife hadn't been home in a week or some bullshit. So the other door is still not changed. He left too late in the day to call someone else without having the price quadruple cause it's after hours. I took the last few things of value out of the house and he will change the other lock tomorrow.

Well we got a call from the cops today. They found the rims. Just got back a little while ago from the police station to identify the rims. We brought a picture of them so they could see them (they never asked for a pic before).

So the detective tells us he goes to a weekly detectives meeting where a bunch of them get together and go through stuff, including thumbing through all the new stuff at all the pawn shops. They keep names of the people that sell them stuff at these shops, to along with the stuff, they have names. One name jumped out at the detective. A known criminal, and it said he sold 4 rims. So he brought this info back with him, simply because this guy has warrants out for him. He got back to the station and he told another detective that their guy has popped up again, this time with a set of rims. The other detective says we just got a case with a set of stolen rims. So he went down to the pawn shop and picked them up. The guy is still out there and they are putting out another warrant for his arrest. He is a drug addict, and his ex used to live in the neighborhood and he is very familiar with the area. He has even broken into his own parents house and stolen stuff to pay for his addiction.

So they will be holding on to the rims for a little bit, as evidence and then they will be released to me. It's fine since i am not putting them on till the spring.
