    Water/Meth vs Co2 Intercooler spray

I recently learned about the co2 spray for your Ic, BUT I'VE NEVER SEEN ANY ON AUDI'S WHY IS THAT?
AND DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO RUN BOTH WATER/METH AND THE CO2 OR IS IT ONE OR ANOTHER?

water/meth is injected into the manifold to cool the intake charge and boost octane, co2 is sprayed onto the outside of the intercooler to prevent heat soaking, hope that helps.

I'm all about helping people, but seeing as you just created like (edit) 4 different threads within a 5-minute span with very basic questions, you might want to search the forums for a little bit first... This stuff has all been discussed before.

Re: Water/Meth vs Co2 Intercooler spray

I use water/meth on my Noble at the track. Its also a twin turbo V6. It can help under extreme conditions, but not necessarily. Your car has to have a tune to accomodate it. An off the shelf tune may yeild some benefit under ideal conditions (no heat soak for example and low charge temps), or it may not. I only use it when I am at the track as my intake temps skyrocket, and the meth/water helps a lot to bring AFR ratios back into line instead of dumping fuel.

Its not the water/meth itself that cools the intake, its the phase change. Think of when you boil water, it takes head, and creates steam. Well in this case you are creating steam without the heat (it turns into steam by compressing it, ie atomization), and therefore SOAKS UP the heat.

There are risks on some engines of stripping the thin oil coating off of your cylinder walls where the rings meat, and cause premature wear.. this really depends on the oil and metal components. On the other hand, it will steam clean your engine internals on every use.

I have a CO2 spraybar as well but have yet to test it. It may cause cracking due to extreme and quick tempature changes.. depending on quality of your IC.

    Did you say MEAT?

But seriously, get W/M with a tune. I've heard it kicks ass. IC spray isn't as popular because I don't think its as effective as W/M + tune.

Re: Water/Meth vs Co2 Intercooler spray

Just get water/meth injection, it is FAR more effective then Cryo spray bars. The thing to realize is that the cryo is only good for taking out some heat soak while the car is sitting with no cooling air flow. Once the car is moving the air flow cooling FAR exceeds the amount of cooling that the cryo achieves.

Spoken from much experience with both in the S4TT.
