I got a CEL on my 1999 Audi A4. I went over to auto zone to have it checked out it was code p1136. The first thing i did was cleaned the MAF sensor with MAF Cleaner from Auto zone. Got the code reset and it came back. Next when I was getting my Oil changed i asked the people at Strauss to check for vacuum leaks. They found a cracked hose and a check valve. So I bought a new hose and a valve and replaced both got the check engine light reset and it came back i am all out of ideas and this car has to be inspected soon.

When i am driving the car it randomly revs up when i am not pressing on the gas and when the rev needle goes down it sometimes pauses for a split second between 2 - 3 before it goes down.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated

Take the engine cover off. There should be 3 or so clearly visible vaccum lines including the one running to your DV. Make sure they're on and tight. Then replace em anyway cause I know they're shot. MAF problems wouldn't cause ur car to rev like that. My Maf went and my car wouldn't boost and would misfire the second it hit boost, but had a baby smooth idle. I cleaned it, and it got better for a day then came back again with a vengence. YOu gotta have a serious vaccum leak to have an idle like that. Probably something bigger then one of those 3 lil hoses. If it's doing it just while sitting still and not under load AND you've properly tested for vaccum leaks, and the car drives my bet is Idle air control valve.

i had strauss due a vaccum leak test only showed up the check valve and the hose. but i noticed under my engine cover the line that runs to the turbo or the dv it looks like it was cut and replaced by a hose that looks like a shoelace. i am not sure if thats normal.

thats not the exact picture of my car since its the middle of the night but i circled the hose that i am talking about. The hose on my car is rubber about 3 inches and after that it looks cut with a white connector that connects to a shoelace looking hose like the one below

does the shoelace hose have any rubber in it? if not then its leaking pressure. factory uses a rubber hose covered by braiding that looks like that but black
