Can anyone explain WHY plaid is the thing to do with German cars, especially VW's? For what it's worth, the plaid looks rather tacky, and it does not go well with the grey. Also, why are you showing off your Passat on an Audi forum?

Plaid has been big in VW since the MKI GTi. I couldn't find a pic of the OG seats but this is them in stock form in a MKV GTI.

They are on the same platform but they definitely aren't the same car. In my opinion, I hate the look of the B5 Passat. I think the front is way too rounded, like a space shuttle, and the rear is too bland with the taillights on those things. They fixed the latter problem in the B5.5 but it still isn't that great.
