Upper intake boost

I have a crack in my upper intake hose and the car idles poorly sometimes and I am only holding 18psi APR chip Stage 3. Would that crack be a culprit to boost loss/bad idle? [IMG][/IMG]

I also am running the stock TBB. So today I ordered those samco upper intake hose kit, Samco TBB, and samco F hose to replace the oem ones....hopefully that will resolve my boost leak

If you have an APR stage 3 kit, those hoses will not fit the RS4 Y-pipe.

Thank you for telling me! I just contacted ECS to change the order, so i got the right side Rs4 upper intake hose

there's no boost going through there unless it's coming from the bipipes when your diverter valves open, and even then its not much.

wouldnt it cause a rough idle, there is a gash in the small hose connecting to the dv

I don't see why, since your DV's are closed at idle. all the air is goign through the bipipes to the throttle body. I could be wrong about hte DVs though, i remember when i forgot the connect a DV to the upper intake hose and i went to drive and it stalled when I let off the gas after accelerating.

So where do most leaks occur then? Lower IC piping?

TBB (throttle body boot), upper and lower intercooler hoses.... Diverter valve L hoses that connect them to the bipipe and bottom of DV. ummmmmmm, those are the common ones, unless you have extra special bad luck... oh and the F hose if you are a 2000

check all these things. also do you have a boost gauge? whats your max psi, min vacuum?

VDO boost gauge, but it's weird. Sometimes the car will idle fine Vacuum at 19 psi and spike 22 hold 18. Then others it will vacuum 14 and fluctuate between 16-20. APR stage 3, I ordered RS4 upper intake hose (mine was cracked), Samco TBB, Samco F hose, but I am also STILL on the stock side mounts, so FMIC is being ordered this week.

Stock sidemounts wont affect a changing vacuum. That sounds more like a leak. Pressure test your system
