Shaving...

Hey guys while the car is getting its new Oetty kit, I am having the whole car re-sprayed. I am also looking at doing some shaving. Has anyone shaved there side molding and fender turns?? I need to know if there are holes where the side moldings are, or it is is just double sided tape... On the turns, did you just tir them inside the fender so you don't get a "light out" error on the dash??

Good luck with the shave. I had my front bumper shaved on my jetta and loved it. Really smooth look. As for the side mouldings they are just taped on there. And for the lights, just keep bulbs in them and take of your fenders every so often to replace them.

Yes, there are (6 or 7) holes behind each rub strip.

IIRC the molding actually sit is recessed sheet metal, so all that would have to be filled

As someone who has done a little shaving and a lot of painting of my car, I can say for certain that the side strips do have holes behind them and fasten through the door. You should remove inside panels to access them.

idk for sure but im leaning towards holes too...double sided tape just doesnt seem to cut it lol plus i can just picture the rubs being taken off and there being a handful of holes...good luck with it

I've deleted pics from when I resprayed side, but I can assure you 100% that there are holes behind those strips.

What does it matter if it is holes or tape?

You would still have to fill in the indent
