Just wanted to take a second to say hello and let you guys know that I'm here and will be lurking around. I currently drive an Acura CL 3.2 Type S and within the next couple of weeks plan to upgrade to an Audi A6. I'm trying to learn everything I can about the A6 while I search for the perfect ride for me. I'm looking at 05's and 06's.
I'm open to any advice anyone wants to offer up. Oh yeah, I'm a paraplegic and my first mod will of course be the installation of a hand control setup.

Welcome! Feel free to ask questions, most of us are C5 guys though. That is the previous(96-04) generation. Audiworld does have a dedicated C6(05+) forum, that might give you some more info.

What does the hand control setup consist of? I've never heard of that before.

welcome - I used to drive CL-S as well (2003, I think). Not popular around this forum, but had its pluses. Quattro is far superior, heavier car is fine (with sways, sport suspension of some sort) and no more torque understeer, even with more power. I'm part of the 2.7T contingent (C5 era A6), but I presume you're looking at 4.2? Not as quick, but real nice cruiser.

Welcome aboard, and allthough there are a ton of C5 gen guys here, there are a few of us that have the C6 platform. Real nice cars. So feel free to ask anything you like and we'll try to be as helpful as we can.

And Stampy the hand control set up is like a handlebar that works the foot controls. You twist it downword toward your knee to work the throttle (think of it as twisting a wrench to loosen a bolt), and you push it down towards the floor to work the brake. Simple stuff but necessary for those without use of their legs.

Yup any car can be fitted with this setup. Mounts to the knee bar under the steering column and allows for one hand to operate the throttle/brakes and the other to operate the steering. Cool setup. Heres a pic of an installed set into a Mustang.

on a disturbing site note...That light switch on the Mustang looks too much like a A6/Mk IV light switch.

Wouldn't know. Only dealt with one car that I had to install this on when I was an Asst Service MGR at a Budget car sales. Drove it in the parking lot for a bit and it was awekward at first, but I can tell it would only take a day of two to get used to it and it would feel like second nature.

It looks like the same type of switch, but the switch on the Mustang won't lose that black coating and let light leak out.

Talk about delayed reaction! Thanks to everyone that welcomed me to the board late last year. I kind of disappeared after I choked at the dealership and didn't take delivery on that C6. One of the best decisions I've ever made and didn't even know it. Shortly after my gut feeling of hesitation, my financial situation took a drastic change for the worst. Glad I didn't put myself in that predicament.

Well, my tranny is about shot now that my warranty is up and I'm ready to move on from my Crapura CL. I've actually been looking at some A4's, but at any rate I'll still start posting more and dropping pics whenever I do get something. Peace to all.

Belated welcome and the Acura transmission issue was just being debated in another part of AZ. A bunch of ppl have had their trannies replaced by Acura even outside of warranty. Talk to your dealer first and call Corp HQ if you need to.
