Has anyone gone through their control arms in 35k? I think my pass side is shot. I could bring it to the dealer but they might tell me the suspension i put on cause the quick wear.

    Wait, control arms?

How do you wear those out? Do you mean the bushings?

    Re: Control Arms

My car has 38k mi and is making a chatter sound on the front left corner. Sounds like metal-to-metal contact when I drive over uneven pavement...like a blown shock noise (it's not). I don't hear it when I drive over rough roads, bumps or potholes but it's very evident over mildly undulated roads. I think it's the ball joint or the front sway bar bushings because both seem to have slight play but I have to take it in again. Last time I was at the dealer, they couldn't detect the sound (the roads near the dealership are too new ) and for some reason they changed the wheel bearing which didn't fix the problem.

When are you taking it in to get the control arm changed? Does your problem sound similar to mine? I'd be interested to hear the outcome of the control arm fix...the rattle is driving me nuts!

    Re: Control Arms

Yeah!!! It sounds like a blown shock and that is what I thought was wrong first but my bilsteins only have 16k on them and would hope its not blown. Mine is in the front right. I have to go to work now but I'm going to try and call audi and tell them whats up and see what I can do!

    Re: Control Arms

I'd probably have someone confirm that before spending money on replacement control arms. An internet diagnosis isn't generally all that reliable. If you don't want to take it to the dealer, take it to a local shop and have them take a look.

Why would he be paying for the repair? This is a warranty fix.
