brake res filter removal?

anyone know how to remove the small filter in the brake fluid reservoir? I need it off so I can use a brake bleeder kit, and it's kinda dirty. I tried yanking/screwing off.. dosen't want to budge.

I'd say yank harder, maybe with some pliers. It's held in with a few tabs if I recall.
