    Re: Replacing Stock Downpipes????

A testpipe isn't a downpipe, a testpipe comes before the downpipe and replaces the cat.

The stock downpipe will be sufficient for anything below a BT setup, and its probably sufficient for a BT setup as well. As for the test pipe... well, its a pipe with O2 bungs... pretty much the same no matter which company you get.

Personally, I'd opt for a HFC and not a test pipe. There's no need to suffocate the drivers behind you in traffic.

    Re: Replacing Stock Downpipes????

Is it just me or does no one make a test pipe for a 3.0? I realize the whole point of the pipe is to free up the pressure, and since my car is an N/A, it would be pointless performance-wise, but I am only looking for a sound difference as of right now... Until I can save up for an R&D full exhaust.

Yes buddy we all kno a testpipe isnt a downpipe, but unfortunatley they dont make a downpipe for a4 1.8t's unless you buy an exhaust!

Actually several companies make downpipes that you can buy separate from a full exhaust.

Whether they fit to the stock exhaust under the car is another question.

Our test pipes will fit in stock locations and in the stock mounting points.

this is incorrect, don't post if you don't know.

you can get a downpipe for a 1.8t from a few different places not to mention gettign one custom done. i have a 2.5" downpipe on mine i got from tttuning since the Thermal R&D race exhaust does not come with a downpipe that fits the tiptronic.

I am assuming the OP has a 1.8t since he is talking revo stage 2, but it's not mentioned anywhere.
and why the hell is everyone talking about test pipes, the OP wanted to know about downpipes, not testpipes.

because our cars are not like most. To the uneducated Audi person, a downpipe and test pipe are one in the same. Pretty much all Japanese cars and even VWs have the cat in the downpipe, so their "test pipes" are downpipes as well...

People were probably unsure whether the OP meant test pipe or downpipe so they offered both

understandable i guess. but he is in NH with emission testing so a testpipe won't work for him, unless we wants to pull the turbo twice a year just to swap it out and pass state inspection.
