How many key fobs included?

Can anybody tell me how many switchblade key fobs (not valet or plastic) came with the car when new? I have two now but think I might have lost one at some point.

I got screwed when I picked up my 06 last week. I was returning an 06 lease with every key that came with it. After I signed on the dotted line, it dawned on me to check for keys, it was allready missing floormats, which they promised to throw in. Then to my suprise, only one key. WTF is that about. Now I am fighting this douche bag salesman for an extra key. He told me he would either do the floor mats or key. Such BS. I hate stealerships, they are no good. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he delivers, considering it was a verbal agreement, does that hold if he tries to dick me?

It was not certified. Explains it I guess. Regardless, I find it quite tasteless in the dealerships etiquette to not disclose any of this until you have signed on the dotted line. New question when purchasing a used car, how many keys come with it. The idiot salesman was like well you only need one. My response was what do you suggest I do if for some reason that one key gets misplaced. God I hate dealers. Stay away from McKenna Audi, they are the shadiest in my opinion!

Umm, you're going to need a better reason than that to recommend avoiding a dealer. Why not advise folks to learn from your mistake and put a little non-CPO car buying checklist together. Include on that list checking to see if the spare tire is there. Now if that was missing I could see being pissed. . . .

Yeah I did check for spare tire. Based on my experience from purchasing an MBZ from a BMW dealership in July, they not only pointed out the lack of extra keys, they also offered to pay for the purchase of a new key from the MBZ dealership. To me that is the way it should be, not fighting and haggling with the dealer over something as simple as having an additional key.

Yeah I did check for spare tire. Based on my experience from purchasing an MBZ from a BMW dealership in July, they not only pointed out the lack of extra keys, they also offered to pay for the purchase of a new key from the MBZ dealership. To me that is the way it should be, not fighting and haggling with the dealer over something as simple as having an additional key.

That puts it into perspective a bit and the bottom line is customer service.

I hate to ask this though, was the MBZ certified? While it might explain the difference, either way you're still right about the way it ought to be.

I wonder if the survey companies that call new car & service customers for Audi also check in with used car customers. We all know how insane sales guys can get about wanting good marks. Could be a leverage point. . ..

Also when it comes to buy a "used" car un-Certified, yes it is also good for the dealership to tell you they only have one key, but that one key can cost a lot of replace and be the breaking point from making a deal and not. Most of our pre-owned cars(non Audi's) are obviously not certified, and whenever someone asks me if we have more keys, my response is always:
"I'm not sure, i will check while you are in finance for any extra sets the previous owner might have left with us" (FYI we don't leave all the keys together).

No the MBZ was not certified, like I said I found it at a BMW lot. I will continue to fight the battle with the dealership, but the kicker to me is still having to choose between floor mats and the key. I figured out there were no floor mats on my own. Overall, reflecting on my car buying experience, I feel like I was rushed. Never again will I let a salesman push me along like he did. McKenna states they are a "no pressure" dealership, which I find to be completely the opposite. While we were moving to finance, the salesman promised to make right on the floor mats. But after is when I realized there was no key. It pretty much came down to a key or floor mats. I figured mats are a buck twenty, key is twice that.

I am going to pray to the auto gods they make good on there promise, but at this point in time I am not holding my breath.

I will go out of my way to make sure and smear them in any survey material we get. Or at least threaten my sales guy. I have not gotten any return calls from him nor has he provided me with any info when I have actually reached him.

Not to threadjack but I don't want to start another thread on a similar topic.

I just bought an '02 A4 and it only came with the 1 keyfob key. I obviously want more keys but realized the $$ involved. So a quick search on eBay reveals some keyfob keys that are already cut but need to be reprogrammed. I don't get this. Does this mean that we all have the same ignition cut and just need the fob programmed to work? Someone help me get some keys! I am paranoid that I will be locked out soon.

What color is your car interior? I have a set of OEM black floor mats that I purchased because my grey OEM mats were getting dirty too quickly. But I prefer the grey OEM mats. I also have some light blackout film for the tail lights. PM if you are interested, I’m sure we can work something out.

BTW, I hate McKennas's as well, the sales person I dealt with was a jerk so I left and bought my car at Circle Imports in Long Beach. I got 2 keys w/FOB, one valet key and one plastic key.

So I sent a threatening e-mail to Danny McKenna stating how infuriated I was with his dealership and it was amazing how quickly everything was made right. I now have a complete set of floor mats, and a spare key! Got to love the power of the internet! :)

Glad to hear they took care of you. Most dealers will moan and groan about getting you a key, but if you push them hard enough you have a good chance of getting it. When I traded in my car I was going over everything on the new car and noticed that the tool kit in the new car only had a tire iron, no screwdriver or tow hook. So when I went to take the plates off my old car I may have put the tool kit back in the wrong car
