hey guys, i have a 2001 s4 b5 and i have it chipped and many other mods, i have yet to replace my clutch and with the extra horsepower added my clutch can no longer handle it and is beginning to slip. so my question to you is should i install a rs4 clutch or should i find a stage 2 or 3 clutch?

    Re: stage 2 or rs4

your clutch is just worn. an s4 clutch can handle stage 2 + power all day.
rs4 clutch is a great solution for upgrade thats not too costly

    Re: stage 2 or rs4

Here's a good question before you go shopping.

What are your futur power plans for the car? Stage 3?

If so, my opinion would to do the clutch once, not twice. Ya dig?

    Re: stage 2 or rs4

an RS4 clutch is a good replacement.. but a clutch is one of those things I would want to replace with a unit that would exceed my needs, just incase i want to do something later, and also because the amount of work and cost involved. If you use components that will be working at their maximum all the time, you'll be replacing them very quickly.

    Re: stage 2 or rs4

i plan on eventually having about 550-600 hp
would the rs4 clutch handle that?

    Re: stage 2 or rs4

If you are not going to go stage 3, then the RS4 clutch is fine.

If you are going stage 3, then go with a stage 3 or 4 clutch.

    Re: stage 2 or rs4

550-600 HP would not be a good day for that rs4 clutch

i had the same issue as you and i ended up buying a VAST stage 3 with lightweight flywheel so that i would never have to do it again since i will go stage 3

    Re: stage 2 or rs4

I was in this same predicament a couple weeks ago, and decided to go with the RS4 setup wit a single mass flywheel b/c the stage 3 and 4 options were outta my price range. plus its gonna take me another 5 yrs to save up for the stg 3 kit anyway... HAHA I should be picking the car up today so I'll let you know as soon as its broken in how it feels

like graham said, think of your future plans for the car and purchase accordingly

Call Mike@VAST, tell him what you want the end result for the car to be and he will match with the perfect clutch based on your OVERALL GOAL for the car. They carry anything from a stock clutch up to a Stage 4/5 CM kit, kevlar wrapped, ect ect.

    Hey Guys,

I am planning to install a stage 4 (flywheel/clutch comco) on my RS4 (2007)...any recommendations, hints, advise???
the car is superb, however, when push to its extremes, the clutch (stock) is smelling and the pedal is becoming hard...

    please advise

Whoa whoa whoa guys, you trying to make him poor? RS4 clutch? Stage 3?

I suggest you look into CM FX400's or higher, Southbend and/or Spec's.

I recommend a Clutchmasters FX400 or higher if you plan for more power later on.
