    Re: salvage b5 a4

I'm not trying to be a dick, but how can a kid in high school afford to build an a4 from the ground up. I'm in college and work at least 40hrs a week at $18/hr and it's gonna mean some sacrifices on my end just to get the mechanical stuff done, never mind the looks.

I think you should just buy another a4 that doesn't have any problems and take the money you have left over and invest in some real driving classes. That's what I did and I'm a way better driver now because of it, not to mention they're alot of fun. Plus it's obvious you can use the classes since you already totaled one a4. If you can't handle the stock hp how are you gonna be able to handle more power regardless of the road conditions?

Driving school and closed course racing are key!

Plus are you that mechanically inclined to build a car from the ground up? That's a rough task especially for someone who just started driving & getting into cars. How old are you? 16-17?

It's not that I don't like his idea, its just that from what I have been able to tell from other threads/posts he's made, he has zero experience working on or driving cars. I'm just trying to save him alot of frustration and disappointment.

i'd say best bet is ebay or something.. not to many "normal" people are gunna hold onto a salvaged a4, unless it was a mistake when they bought it and didn't know it had a salvage title..

x2.....sorry. But I couldnt agree more. I've had a couple friends almost die cuz they bought super fast cars (STI's, Evo's, Porsche's, etc.) when they were too young....I'd wait til you've got a couple years of safe driving and a clean record (no tickets or anymore accidents) before I built one.....I had the money for a fast car when I was young, but I'm waiting until now (i'm 23) that I feel I can truly handle a performance car.

Sorry to sound like an old man, but thats just my opinion. Be safe
