Format it in a PC. And make sure it's only SD, not SDHC.

Re: Audi Symphony SD Card Reader....

Yah, make sure the card your using is not SDHC. Also, you can't have more than a certain characters for the file names. If the title of a song is too long, it just wont show up although it's on the card.

Thanks for the heads up!! I was just about to buy (2) 4GB SD cards from eBay, I guess I'll be buying the (2) pack of 2GB from bestbuy, for $20.... Thanks!!! What's the max amount of songs someone has fitted into an SD card?

The manual for 2010 says SD cards up to 32 GB are OK, so SDHC should definitely work. I recall seeing that 2009 models manufactured after February 2009 can use SDHC after firmware update.

From MY2010, models equipped with Audi Symphony got Symphony II. IIRC, the major upgrade in Symphony II was support for SDHC and a 3.5mm input jack for AUX under the armrest. My wife's '10 car has both.

Saw this on AuduFUS by or friend Local3...

Upgrading Symphony radio ver 0211 to newest software ver (0310) increases SD capacity.

Anyone want to volunteer next time they are out the dealer to try the upgrade? I will, but prolly won't be to the dealer again for another six months to a year! (unless something pops up sooner...)

That happens from time to time with removable media. A format will almost definitely do the trick.

IIRC you lose the aux jack if you get the AMI because there is a 3.5mm jack which can be used with the AMI

I never ended up getting the AMI even though i really wanted it when i got my car. I now think i made the better choice because the MY10 SD slot supports SDHC cards which i put all my music i listen to on the card and presto i have the same ability to change music through my wheel/car as i would if i had AMI and the aux cable works just the same as the AMI 3.5mm jack would. Idk why i said all that but eh oh well thats my story/rant haha.

reformat the card to FAT32. It comes default in exFAT.

Check your VAG log of mod 56. Should tell you the HW & SW number on 3rd line. Mine is: Component: Symph3 Sirius H02 0211 - thats HW ver 02 with SW ver 0211.

Redundant but very cool this juke box. Mp3 discs work very well. Interesting it has 2 cards lots.

10 gigs is a lot of music.

The Ipod works wonderful with the set up on the prestige plus.

Not sure I'd store music on the cards as I don't perceive them as steady. Cars environments are tough on cards. With my Ipod, if it fries, get a new one and synch it. Back up in 10 minutes.

Great choices anyway you look at it.

Raising this thread from the dead...got 2011 s line q5 and SDXC 64GB card does not work. Called dealer and they told me that 2010 and up use just SD card and it will only play copyrighted music. Someone shine some light plz.

Tried formatting and the file system is exFAT, but still no effect. Some say that 2010+ models support SDhc while others say it can only do SD card.

If I'm in the wrong thread please feel free to redirect.

I'm pretty sure there's a 32gb limit on sd cards, i had to return my 64gb for a 32gb because I couldn't get it to work

Somewhere along the line, Audi changed it's limits.

I run dual 64GB SDXC cards without a hitch and I recall reading a handful of people that are running 128gb's.

    Red face

Update: bought 16GB SDhc card from eBay and it arrived yesterday. Held my breath while I plugged it in. MMI recognized it and it's working fine.

Although, dealer was not any help on this issue. Spoke with them and they told me it will only support a card up to 4 GB non hc.

This could be due to the fact that your Audi is not as old as mine. Mine is a 2011.

    I have a 2010 A4 w/ Symphony and
I finally got around to getting a 64GB card (transcend sd/xc class 10 ) which I formatted to fat32 (you will probably need to find a fat32 formatting program) NOT Ex-fat, and it reads it, with just a few songs on it for testing it played instantly but when I loaded it with 62GB of music it takes about a 60 seconds to read and start playing on start up.
