Looks good. Only thing is i'd do it in a lamin-x type deal if you can, because odds are you will get bored and want to change it back.

Any ideas for a good product to do this with?

Laminx doesn't make tints for b5 tails do they? If i could find them i suppose i could just cut out the space for the clear bar.

If not, i was considering that nightshade spray. I could just tape off the white strip with some painters tape and spray a few coats, but like you said, its irreversible. (well unless you get paint thinner or whatev)

it is reversable, just takes time and patience.

I did that to my Acura integra tails and once i got bored, i had to wet sand from 400, 600, 800, 1500, 2000 and then did another clear coat on the plastic and polished them out. Its just a hassle. I would go with vinyl if i had the opportunity.

you can buy sheets of laminx i believe and cut it yourself

Heres what it really looks like. Not my car just one I had from doing a photoshop for someone. I do have the tails on my car tinted like this as well, Love the look. Just don't use the model tint that has been recommended in other threads, is fades away over time. I'm gonna redo mine with niteshades before to long.
