I Need To Find A Tach Signal

My tachometer is busted and im trying to find out if i can pick up a tach signal from the fuse box and if so which plug to run a standalone tach. Or anywhere else for that matter. Hooked it up to vag and the rpms are off, i.e. showing 6000 @4100 actual. They vary at different rpms. Any leads are appreciated. Thanks

You can pick up a digital tach signal in the wiring harness behind the instrument cluster.

There was a post on AudiWorld a while back about somebody finding an analog tach signal for the purpsoe of a remote starter. it was in the sheath of wires going to the ecu.

    Hope that helps a bit.

Did you ever find the correct wire? I'm looking to install a shift chime/buzzer and I also need the tach signal for this.
