I am in limp mode, And i cannot for the life of me figure

Whats wrong !!

As some of you know from previous post, i have struggeling to get my car running properly, only like 175ms\g @ MAF @ 1.5BAR (GTRS), which makes no sense. Im using a MBC btw.

I unhooked the MAF and car seems, to me, be running the exact same. So revo tells me this is limp mode. I've tried vag com, scan & clear, unhook battery, bla bla bla.. any tips? I cannot figure whats causin the limp :(

I would have to say that you need a new maf, same thing happened to me, and if u unplug it and nothing changes don't u think something is wrong? I replaced mine, cleared the codes nd poof fixed! Lol Also might be ur valve cover gaskets or check valve sensor.

yeah, might be.... but will that cause a limp mode? or is it just that he MAF will do that kind of f¤#"¤"up? ;)

btw, how did yours fail? did you use a open air filter or?

The only way for you to truly tell if you are in limp mode is to scan the car and look at thre requested boost vs actual boost.

It takes about 2 seconds to clear the codes and limp mode to go away.

the requested boost is 0.5bar and always have been (@ max). But then again, i dont know if the chip actually switches with the REVO SPS. And yes, it will clear.. but if the failure is still present it will be right back in limp, yes?

In order to run a MBC, you need to have the boost setting on 9 with the SPS3. On this setting the requested boost should be 2540mbar.

Who did the programming of your ECM?

The SPS3 should beep once inserted into the OBDII port and the key is on. If it is beeping they the settings should have taken affect.

Everything beeps as it should, and the setting is applied to the ecu (i can read it, using the PC app from SPS) it just doesnt change anything. Thats the reason i use a MBC, revo chip wont let me boost over 0.7bar (or under for that matter) no matter what i set it, it applies, but still boosts 0.7, even at B1 T1. So the next step for me was to pull the plug on the MAF to see if the car runned the same, and it did.

Ecode chipped my ecu, and they "forgot" to mention it was a beta file and there was a great chance it wouldn work (never tested afaik), but ofc, they didnt mention this. Revo did when i contected them directly to solve the issue. +1 to them again for fu#¤R# me in the rear ;)

If you cannot switch the boost with the sps3, then it is not likley the programming took. Send you ECU to REVO UK and they should get it sorted out.

Yeaeh.. kev offered that for free, but the shipping will probably exceed 100$ by far, and no guarantees for it being fixed either :( and ecode has already screwed me for several grands... oh well, just have to jump on it.. ill get back to you when ive sent and gotten it back.. thanks for the help this far.

I don't know how much this will help. I'm kind of still learning about these cars but i know my A4 went in to limp mode when i blew a coil pack. don't know if you have checked those yet. how you figure it out.

yeah, hit me back when you've been screwed for a shitload of grand's you've worked your ass to get.... not money that was bad spent, not money that you bought a thing you regret on, but simply money that just vanished. And since my car already costed 40k$ in norway, go figure.
