I have a b5 A4 1.8T (2000) and need a bearing replacement on the right wheel. The mechanic i took it to said it would cost 500 dollars. Does anyone know of a cheaper deal?

    thanks

    Wow.
You could buy the bearing for about $55 from PureMS. Then buy a Hub Shark or Sir Tools B90 (B90 shown) and do it yourself. It is not that bad search Youtube for this video. I paid less than $400 for the B90 Master kit

    Re: bearing replacement

if your car is fwd and its the back bearing then it is super easy i did both mine myself in 2 hours and replaced the brake pads as well. If it is quattro or it is the front right then you can just take off the whole upright with the hub and all and take it to track auto with the new wheel bearing and they will press it for about 33 dollars its really easy but for quattro or for the fronts on fwd you will need an alignment. send me a pm if you have any questions i will be happy to answer

    Re: bearing replacement

Rip off. I paid less than $300 to have both my fronts replaced. I bought the parts myself though so you can add another $110 on top of that I guess. Still cheaper then $500 for one.

    Re: bearing replacement

Total cost for me was $90. $55 for the part from ECS and $35 for PepBoys to press it in. Its really simple and should take no more than a few hours....the first time.
