    Forged DV problems?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
does anyone know anything about having to maintain the dv, or is it basically put it on and its good for life, because i have a feeling thats what might be causing my car to run a little funky lately

symptoms---> honestly tought to explain, but it feels like my car is just spinning the turbo and dumping air until about 10psi, (i give it gas and let off before 10psi and i dont get the classic dv "sneeze") then after it does that to 10psi, it holds there for a second, then it feels like something closes or opens or does something and i kick up to full boost... thats my best verbal to whats going on, andim thinking it might be the DV being stuck open (or closed, not really sure how it works) until it has enough pressure (at 10psi) to be forced closed (or open) and catch full boost.....

could this be the case? or should i throw myself in the looney bin?

any and all help is greatly appriciated...

    happy motoring az'ers

    Re: Forged DV problems?

    ...ur not crazy....
supposedly i have heard from the STaSIS' guys that the forge dv's have problems holding pressure after awhile... When i was there a couple weeks ago they showed me a faulty one, i was a little pissed off becuase i thought these were kinda fail safe...but i guess not they actually recommended going back to stock or with there modified stock dv becuase both OEM or forge will go at some point, and the OEM is much cheaper to replace than the $250 forge. I definitely could be wrong, but this is what i have heard. good luck and hope this helps

    Re: Forged DV problems?

If your DV is stuck open then you should not even hit 10 psi, because that would be a big boost leak. You DV is supposed to be closed when you are under boost and open at throttle lift and idle.

Anyway, you do need to service your DV every now and then if it's a piston type valve. I usually clean and re-grease my 007 DV or my 004 BOV every oil change (5k). You can go longer but it is easy so I just do it.

    Re: Forged DV problems?

I have lubed mine a couple of times already ( T.W.S.S BTW ), and never had an issue. However I have heard that some come open, some get stuck, some are missing o rings etc ... This situations are kind of odd, but it never hurts checking.

i think i read in AWE's posting that piston style DV's require maintenance.

    Re: Forged DV problems?

i took mine off cause it was constantly leaking ... and was actually getting stuck due to needing lube on the piston... and the seal between the unit and the turbo went bad... I went back to my original .. no problems to date with the stock now and its feels so much better.

Exact same thing is happening to me. Guess I'll have to take it off when my shocks and springs get put on I guess.
