An hour's worth of work for this:
Why?
Because of this:
damn T25 gasket blowing out. This is the 3rd time since January on two different motor displacements, two different turbos and two different sized studs (was 8mm but I kept breaking and/or loosening them up. went 10mm when I built my new motor).
Turns out 10mm studs are good (they aren't loose) but just copper lock-nuts are not good with all the heat cycles (only one loosened up). I should have added Nord-Lock washers when I installed this during my motor build. The washers would have helped keep the nuts tight on the studs which would have prevented blowing out the gasket. Still boosts like crazy with a leaky T25 flange .
Before Mike can say anything.... I'm going no gasket on this fcvker (changed my mind, Greg). Also getting rid of the gasket on the 5 bolt turbo exit since those faces are already machined flat. Got some 10mm stainless steel Nord-Lock washers on order. My local Fastenal should have them on Tuesday. Also got some 10mm x 1.5mm pitch x 30mm long ARP bolts to take the place of these studs. These studs have been heat-cycled and I'm afraid once I pull them out to machine the T25 flange faces they won't stay tight again. SO, I'm going strong-ass ARP bolts.. This should be the last time I do this.
