Question About to buy an A4 B5, good buy or not?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Whats up guys, I'm a week new to the forums, have been reading alot, and I've got a couple of questions and would like the communities opinion. To give you a little info on the car..."ASA 18" rims, APR tuning chip, APR Turbo back exhaust, Carbonio carbon fiber intake system, two 12" Jl Audio W'0's with 250 watt amplifier, Lowered on Eibach pro kit springs, APR blow off valve, B&M short shifter."

The engine and cluth both have about 20,000 miles on them. He replaced them because he didn't have the timing belt taken care of(did take care of timing belt.) 87,000 miles, I've done the car fax report and its accident free. Price is 9,300.

The windshield washer reservoir tank is cracked and does not hold fluid. Does anyone know how hard this would be to replace? I've found tanks for about 60$, but don't know what access would be like to the area.

I'm just wondering what your feelings are, whether it's a good buy or not.
    Thanks!

that price is about 2 grand too much. and ASA dosent make custom rims, theyre a cheap-o BBS subsidary. also, i dont see any mention of the timing belt being done which you definatly want to make sure is taken care of.

APR blow off valve? Probably ment DV (diverter valve) - $7000 sounds about fare if its facelift.

Mods don't really add value.....at least not much. I wouldn't pay more than $7000.

Beat me to it.. Mods decrease the actual value of the car unless you can find somebody who actually wants all the stuff modded. With 87k miles I wouldn't pay more than $7500 and even that might be pushing it. Always have to be careful buying a modded car too because you never know how it was driven.. or by whom.

depends how clean the car is, you mentioned the motor and clutch have about 20k on them which is good. Ive seen people pay more for older.

IMO, i think that somewhere around 8k wouldnt be too bad of a deal considering how much money that PO put into that car

I don't know who you're buying it from, but I'd pay $8K for that out the door (tax, title licensing).

I'd turn around and sell all the APR crap too, and the ASA wheels.

    For what it's worth I bought my 98.5 a year ago w/ 154K on it for $3800.

Re: About to buy an A4 B5, good buy or not?

Thanks alot guys, the buyer is a friend who I met a couple of monthes ago at college...So the relationship isn't that deep.
It's black, black rims with chrome lip(ASA AR1). Windows are tinted to like 7%(20 on 35 or something...A cop just tested them), but I'll have them removed then redone to 35 so I don't get pulled over everyday. Lowered on Eichbach springs. The mods are less then a year old, he drove it hard but never launched from 0.

Re: About to buy an A4 B5, good buy or not?

Just agreeing with everyone else, probably about 1500-2000 too high. I got my stock 97 1.8tqm with 107k and all service records (one owner, 57 yr old college professor) for 5400 out the door, from a dealership and that was a couple hundred too high... It seems like your buddy is trying to not give you the "buddy" deal.

Re: About to buy an A4 B5, good buy or not?

I've seen 2001 S4's sell for that price. I wouldn't buy one either way, but it's something to consider. There's a reason why they were double the price new.
