http://www.powerbulbs.com - I've bought Philips X-Treme H7's from them before. They sell another bulb from Osram (Night Breaker) that is supposed to be 10% brighter than the X-Tremes

    That article said it best..

The reason why the scam fools people into thinking their headlamps really work better has to do with the interaction of light that is tinted blue (to any degree) with the human eye. This kind of light has been shown in rigidly-controlled scientific studies to create almost 50% more glare than untinted light from a bulb with clear glass. But there's no 50% increase in seeing to go along with the extra glare; there's no increase in seeing at all, and in most cases there is a moderate reduction in actual seeing light. More glare, less seeing: Everybody loses.

The laws of physics are the laws of physics. They don't bend even for the highest-paid advertising agency. There is no way to get "85 watts of light for 55 watts of electricity."

Re: Best place to get H7's in Ultra white?

lol, i put silverstar ultras in my car and it wasnt worth the 50 bucks. the only reason i can tell a difference is when i sit in my car facing a store window having both headlights and Fogs on at the same time. like they are saying, its just a marketing thing, no real improvement.

Philips Xtreme Power H7 are available in the US (Philips sells them in the US) for a lot cheaper than powerbulbs (a free set of W5W bulbs doesn't seal the deal for me either). About $40 a pair

Osram Night Breakers are a tad whiter as well (more tint covering the bulb)-- however, the life on them are so bad, Osram actually put a warning on the package of its extremely short life.

I have the Osrams on the high beams & Philips for low beams.

Also, good bulbs are: Philips Vision Plus ($30 a pair) & Osram Silverstar (not to be confused with the tinted Sylvania silverstar). A lot of times, Powerbulbs does have buy one, get one free sales with Osram Silverstars.

What I don't recommend are: Philips Night Guide (also available locally) because they do not work with projectors (there is a projector version of it, but it seems no one carries them, even TmTuning)-- not worth the extra cost to get screwed up color zones
08 Passat wagon 2.0T 6MT (APR Stage I, DriverGear-Eibach springs, Bilstein Sport, Euro smoked tails, intake, ATE Premium One rotors, Hawk HPS, Tyrolsport Caliper Guide Bushings, other stuff)

02 Golf TDI 5MT (Chipped, Bosio PP764 nozzles, VNT-17, Shine Racing suspension, S3 strut brace, WRD rear strut brace)
    88.5 Camry V6 5MT
    84 Corolla 3AT (the FWD version, hand-me-down)
