Okay so 2 days ago I took my Audi A4 1.8T to an audi dealer to get the check engine light fixed. They fixed and I was happy =). Today, 2 days later it came back on again. I was pissed. I spent almost 1K on it and not its back on again. Any of you people have any ideas what to do? I will take my car to autozone to get it checked why it's on since they do it for free. Once I get that done. I will post what it says on it since i am not a car genius.

Take it back to the dealer, if the light is back on for the same reason they have to fix it. They obviously didn't replace the right part or parts if the same code comes back.

dont waste time/money at autozone. they will just use a generic scanner which will by no means be as accurate. i have a vag com, a little matco scanner an ive messed around an scanned same problem with both an got 2 completely different codes. invest in a vag com or post in your local room on here an see who has a vag com that can help you out if you dont want to go to the dealer. see what code you have first and do a search on here and Audiworld before you jump to the stealership

He already dropped a grand at the dealership... he needs to go back and throw it in their faces! I have been a Merecedes-Benz tech for 10 years, I know the drill. They messed up so they need to make it right.

Well if it would been on for the same reason it was the last time, then they would of probably had to re-do it free, microracer24 said that earlier.

But anyways, I went to auto zone, I didn't waste any money since it was free but i did waste time. It said the Fan Control Circuit Malfunction. Then when I started heading home, the light went off . =) So problem solved.

Oh and 1 more thing. This is doesn't have to do with the Check engine light, but also the ABS and Brake light are on. The brake light is blinking but when I pull the E-brake it stops flashing but it's still on. Now I went to dealer to check out why it's on. It says you have a faulty ABS Module. They want $600 for it. So I wonder, If I get one off of ebay, can I put it on myself? Or it needs some special programing or something.

im pretty sure your check engine light (mil) will come back on again within a day or two. reason being is that it is a hard fault that regenerates after so many drive cycles. thats why it went away, then came back a couple of days after you left the dealership. what did you have done at the dealer? i'd say take it back and throw a bitch-fit. then they might take care of you (depends on the dealership/service manager).

as for the brake light/abs light, yes it is a faulty module (the electronic part of the abs pump, not the hydraulic). you can do it with the right tools and knowledge. i think there might be a diy floating around. the module itself comes as a repair kit from the dealer; and accounts for about half of that 600dollar bill. the other half is the labor of course. imo i would buy it from the dealership, and install it yourself if you feel comfortable doing it. i dont really trust ebay stuff, unless some1 else can attest to the quality.

They changed all Vacuum Lines, they also replaced spark plugs, coil packs, and valve cover gasket. This cost me $725 with labor.

It also says the tech found both front motor mounts leaking. I don't know what that means.

The Tech also said the Timing belt needs to be replaced. He estimated that it would cost 1278.55 with labor. That price includes a Water Pump, Tooth Belt? (Maybe timing belt), Tensioner (No idea what that is), a Cool ADD. (Same no clue what it is) and a Beltdamper.

725 wow....replacing the sparks and coils are easy ...sparks would of been 30 bux and coils 280. and gasket 30...try looking at DIY stuff...buy a timing kit at a local shop or http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21103-Cand get a trusted shop to do it....you'll save hundreds of dollars...
