How much engine compression is normal?

What should our engine compression be when tested? Do i test it by turning the motor over by bumping the ignition or by hand cranking the crankshaft?

I think it should be around 180psi..and u should be cranking it normally through the ignition

So it still won't start? Just remove the plugs and put you hand over the holes, have someone crank it over. If the valves are bent it won't blow your hand off.
