    Angry Exhaust Leak Annoyance

...how does one fix an exhaust leak around the DP/K03 flange area?

I'm getting REALLY annoyed by the "tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk" noise around that area; that and everytime I put load onto the K03s they make that horrible "chopper" noise.

How long has it been making this noise? You did your piggies right? Did you gut yours or put different dp's on when you changed them?

Did you do the work yourself or have someone do it.

Maye post up a vid on youtube so we can hear the sound. I guess I'm not sure what you mean.

How are the turbo's? I remember reading you think they may be going out.

Hope the best for you man

Did 85% of the work myself but had help from casawhites4, high-psis4, and grishbok towards the end of the night. K03s are holding up pretty well but I still do hear the short-lived whine.

I guess I just need to continue to tighten. :(

Check your Flex pipe. If it is the flex pipe then you will need to go to an exhaust shop and have them cut out your old one and weld in the new one.

It should cost you and est 60 bucks in total

    Re: Exhaust Leak Annoyance

i just got my exhaust isntalled and they didnt tighten the clamps enough. So i went back with new bolts and the guy was like no there is no point in changing the bolts when the clamps are bad. So he goes and puts this crappy muffler sealant stuff and the leak went away. I still wanna buy new clamps though.

    Re: Exhaust Leak Annoyance

It might be the gasket. I would go ahead and take it off to check before i started tightening the nuts more. If the dp flange is warped then tightening the nuts more could crack it, or break an ear off. When you take the dp off get a straight edge and put it across the flange from bolt hole to bolt hole to see if the flange is warped. Do it diagonally and straight across on all bolt holes. Of course, it could just need a new gasket. Either way, have fun taking off those dp's. Good luck man lol

I wonder why he didnt just put new clamps on it? Id get new clamps asap. That sealant could end up causing all kinds of problems depending on what kind it is. Alot of them are basically microscopic bits of iron with a simple high heat binding agent. The binding agent will eventually burn off leaving bits of iron between two piece of steel...a perfect recipe for quick spreading rust. If i were you id get some high quality stainless clamps and call it a day!

    Re: Exhaust Leak Annoyance

thats what i said. the guy was an asshole. He used the stock clamps i beleive instead of just using the clamps that came with the used exhaust. i asked him to change the bolts as i went to home depot and got new ones, and he said lets not waste time with this nonsense, just get new clamps from audi and we can install them. The problem is im going back to college for 2 weeks, so i guess im gonna have to wait 2 weeks... Bullshit

    Re: Exhaust Leak Annoyance

when I took my dp's of it had a few metal gaskets on each dp. I made sure those were put back on when I reinstalled the dp.

Are you sure they were put back on and dp seated correctly?

Are you sure they were tighted down correctly?

I always try and think back when I started noticing the problem to try and help diagnos the problem. how did it sound right after you installed the dp's and new exhaust?

That would be a killer to have this nice new exhaust on but have a leak right up front. it would make it seam like an old junker driving around.
