what happens if i remove the metal thing from inside the headlights that sits right in front of the HID bulb. It looks like it deflects the beam. it is a half piece of metal in front of the bulb

nnothing, you will just blind oncoming traffic as you no longer have a cutoff

The whole purpose of having projectors is having the cutoff. All it will do is scatter the light (a la highbeams) and pis lots of people off. You want more light on the road? Get HIDs in your fog lights, sure it will throw more light @ oncoming traffic, but not NEARLY as bad as HIDs without projectors/cutoffs.

yes, there will be slightly more light coming out of the housings. but all it will be doing is blinding other drivers, and illuminating areas you don't need to see, like branches of trees above you.

if you have HID's its very likely you can blind other drivers and cause an accident, they may very well crash into you because of it, and insurance wont like it if they find out you were messing with your headlights.

You have to go in to VAG-COM and set the headlights up to be adjusted, you can't just manually spin with Allen screws on the headlights without doing this first.
