Thumbs up A Small Tire Review: Nexen N3000

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was searching for new tires on ebay and ran into these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem= . After buying these tires I feel like I should spread the word about them. I searched through the forum before hand to see if anyone has had any experience with them and I came up with nothing. There was actually only one review I found after searching for them on google and it was positive. It seems like these tires are still pretty new. So I thought I would take a shot with them and see how it works and I ended up really liking them.

So on to the review. I've been driving on Nexen N3000's, size 225/45/17 with my stock wheels, for a little more than 1,500 miles with no problems so far and I have to say, these tires are amazing. And for the low price you can't beat them. They are categorized under Max Performance Summer tires and is a definite rival to the Michellin PS2's. I've listed different performance categories and will give my opinion on each based on my time driving with these tires.

Wet Traction: Wet traction on these tires are great. I have complete control when sliding. They're also very resistant to hydroplaning.

Dry Traction: These tires gave me a really good steering response in general and in corners. They are pretty noisy in hard turns but nothing terrible. I only wish that the side wall was just a little stiffer but I can get used to it flexing a little bit. I took the car to about 145 mph and I had complete control and comfort even at that high speed. At a launch from 3k rpm, they are pretty grippy and hardly spin. Maybe because I'm only stage 1.5 haha.

Comfort: These are only my second set of tires on my S4 so based on my experience on tires used on my previous cars, there are considerably quiet. I had Extreme Performance tires before I slapped these on so there was a drastic change in road noise. They only get noisy when traveling above around 85 mph. These tires are really comfortable and make driving on harsher roads a little more enjoyable.

Price: When I bought them about a month and 1/2 ago...$295 shipped. Need I say more???

Overall: I'm not advertising these these tires for anybody. I really like them and the price is definetly a bargain. I thought it would be nice gesture just to get the word out about them. Everybody needs a good deal during the holidays right? For anybody who is looking for great performing summer tires at the price of cheap economy tires, look no further!!! I will definetly buy these again.

    It's spelled tires. lol JK

Anyway you can also buy them from Tirerack.com At least I remember seeing them on their site a year ago or so.
Not sure the comparison of price with tirerack.com and ebay. A little too lazy right now to look it up But I thought they were pretty cheap when I saw them on their site.

I think tire rack used to sell the tires a while back but they don't anymore. I searched again just now to make sure and I didn't find anything.

So how are these tires holding up after another month and a half? Im looking for some tires and want something dirt cheap. I plan on getting new wheels and tires when it warms up so i dont want to drop alot of money on tires that will only be used for a few more months.

tires have been holding up really well. no problems yet whatsoever. during the holidays i think i rounded up 2k miles worth of traveling and these tires translated the different roads very well under the weather conditions i faced. i still stand behind my opinion of them 100%

Cool deal. Thats what i wanted to hear. Now i just have to try some for that cheap. I searched Ebay but it was being gay and wouldnt show all the listings for some reason, and the ones it did show were comparable in price to name brand tires. Thanks for the detailed feedback man!

Re: A Small Tire Review: Nexen N3000

I've gone through 2 sets of these tires, including multiple track days. I've been very happy with their traction, both wet and dry. Obviously, they're terrible on ice and snow, but would you expect anything else?

They wear well enough for an "extreme performance" summer tire.

I'd definitely recommend these as well.

Edited to add: The tread pattern is very aggressive on these. I've gotten multiple comments from people on that; it looks pretty good.

Yea i clicked on it but it said that the ad had been removed or something like that. I tried the link to edgeracings site but they dont have 4 of them left in stock. Im in good with a local wheel shop(helped them get started back in 98) and theyre looking to see what kind of deal they can get those tires for. He said he might be able to get them for around $55-58 a piece, and mounting and balancing is always free with them...so i might be able to have the tires for $220 insatlled. You cant beat that with a stick lol

Once again, thanks for all the help and for posting this up in the first place! I probably wouldnt have given these tires a second look if i hadnt seen this thread.

Had these on my Grand Prix for a year and a half now, and I haven't had a single problem with them. Definitely agree with OP, best bang for the buck you can find on 3-1/2 season tires!

I've been running these tires for YEARS, ever since I had my Honda Prelude before the S! I didn't realize other people knew these things existed! I've only ever managed to get about 25k miles out of them, but that probably has a lot to do with how i drive 100% with the OP, these are for sure the best bang-for-your-buck tires out there.
