so my ps/alt belt snapped last week, the new ones are here now...im going to replace all 3 belts and the tensioner pulley when i get home on monday from my thanksgiving trip to the family

is there a write up anywhere that shows the order or just a how to....i know how to replace belts...but looking over something will probably simplify the process for me in a few days

with the miata having no engine in it right now....and the audi not driveable...i need to be able to fix this ASAP on monday before my class at 1220...i dunno if this is possible :P

    thanks guys

Its alot of work to get to those belts IMO. IIRC the front either has to come off or go into service position.

It's a tight fit with the snub mount up there, and the engine being so close to the radiator.

I did it without removing the viscous fan, it's a PITA, but it can be done. (I even did my T-Belt w/o removing the fan).

You're going to need allen wrenches, IIRC the A/C belt idler/tensioner is held in position by 6mm allens. The serp belt is a normal spring tensioner, you can actually use an open ended wrench to push/turn the tensioner to get the belt off. Good luck with the water pump belt, it's tiny and a PITA. I don't remember how I did it w/o the car in the service position.

look at a timing belt diy. the process is similar except you dont touch the timing belt but pretty much all the steps before

Re: replacing accessory belts 1.8t AEB?

well i am replacing the PS pump while im down there so it should help for the water pump belt

the AC is fine, so in my limited time frame ill just skip the AC belt for now and have it on hand if i ever need it

and im actually replacing the serp. belt tensioner too, so it SHOULD make things easier

anyone have a belt layout / diagram pic/
