    Pliers.

Or maybe try to cut it down on two sides and then use a wrench to screw it out... otherwise cut it.

I tried getting pliers around it but the bracket won't let me get them on the bolt, I don't know what to use to cut it because its a tight fit in there

I was thinking that but I didn't know how to get to it, from the engine bay and under the car I couldn't see where the other end of the bracket is...do you know the best way to get to it? Thanks!

What I have done in the past was grind a little off the tip of the allen socket and tapped it into the allen to make sure it is well seated.
Or Sears sells damaged bolt removers that may help.

I used a long t-handle from underneath. I couldnt get it because it was to tight but I had already gotten the turbo off

Re: Turbo bracket allen bolt stripped...help?

I have those bolt out sockets however I used to get stripped lugs out in the past and I had to hammer them onto the lug to get them to catch the lug, I don't know how to get them on this tiny allen bolt good enough to break it loose

Re: Turbo bracket allen bolt stripped...help?

yeah this bracket and screws are a royal pain. here are a few options:

    1) buy a 6mm allen head socket that you can get an extension on. this will allow you to get the bolt on the engine block off and possibly the bracket.

    2) take a sawzall and cut the damn thing

    3) grind the upper screw head all the way off until the bracket isn't connected to the turb anymore.

I did all three in getting it off, in reverse order actually

    * Oh and definitely buy some PB blaster and soak the lower screw so you have a better chance at getting it off. the stuff does wonders

Easy, if its accessible that is... Bang a torx socket in there

If that doesn't work, you didn't round it out enough yet or you didn't bang it in hard enough

    Trust me

Re: Turbo bracket allen bolt stripped...help?

can you weld or are you close by someone that can weld something for you?

I've stripped out more hex's and torx heads than you can shake a stick at... I generally cut off about an inch and a half-two inches of an allen key, weld it into the stripped head, put a socket on the hex "stub" and back it out while it is still red hot. GL

Yes my can of PB Blaster is my best friend ha, I'm going to soak the bottom bolt of the bracket and try do the extension thing since I have no room to work with for the other options...I just still got to figure out a way to find that lower bolt, can I access it from underneath the car or above? and do I have to move anything out of the way? because I quickly tried to find it when this first happened and couldn't see it, but I wasn't trying hard enough I'll go check now. Thanks!

Re: Turbo bracket allen bolt stripped...help?

Also...is this bracket necessary? Say if I cut it off or take it off the block and for some reason can't get it back on, it's it really worth replacing or struggling to put it back on....seems like it doesn't do much

Re: Turbo bracket allen bolt stripped...help?

no the bracket is not necessary, Harv over on vortex has run a K04 for a few years now and has had no problems without it.

jack the car up and block it off, then access the bolt from underneath. you have to reach around a few AC lines, and the AC compressor it self

    Good luck!
