Mavis Discount Tire?

I'm getting ready to pick up some Dunlop SP Winter Sports 3Ds for the winter. But I'm debating where to make the purchase from.

The stealership quoted me $230 per tire plus $130 for installation.

Tirerack comes to a grand total of $850 (w/ shipping) but does not included mounting & balancing though.

With Mavis it comes out to $912 for tires plus installation and available locally.

Does Mavis carry the real deal? or are they knock offs? Some wording on their site makes it sound like what they carry is imitation. Wouldn't want to purchase imitation or tires that didn't exactly pass the grade. How about the work they do?

I'm thinking of just buying the tires from Mavis, $814 for all four tires and pick them up today, and then have them installed at the dealer.

Lastly, I notice TireRack has two different versions of the 3Ds. Any reviews on the newer model?

Mavis is alright. I got my tires there as well. you might have to have audi balance your wheels even after they have been done by mavis.

bought my dunlop wintersport 3ds from mavis last year on 17" sport wheels. they also mounted 18 contis on my USP wheels. they did a good job balancing. My experiences with the Northport, LI branch are good.
