Less LEDs and more space like others have said. Great work though, also get some 6000K HID fogs and headlights. 6000K is the closed match to an LED

thanks for the comments guys. everyone keeps sayin spread the led's out more, but there are no led strings out there that would work for this application and keep such a clean install. unless you know what your looking for when u look at my headlights, you will not see the led string. i can show more pics, but i think most of you are underestimating the amount of work that went into these headlights.

never said that it didn't take a lot of work, I am just stating from the pictures which probably don't do them justice they look to close together, and they do look blue. Id also say go with the 6000k fogs and heads.

Definately appreciate the work done to it. However, to me this is like putting some christmas lights in your headlights. The lack of curvature in the B6 headlights makes this mod less appealing imo. But props none the less.

Re: B6 Custom LED Headlight pictures and video as promised

I don't agree with the people saying too small and too close together; the B8's aren't that much different. It appears you got the 1cm LED strip that's common on eBay. In a perfect world, I'd do separate LED bulbs evenly spaced and directed, and not the mass-produced bendable LED strips. But I wouldn't space them much further apart; I'd just makes less of them and ensure they all point directly forward, instead of taking the curve of the housing.
I don't personally like one line of them all the way across the bottom. That doesn't look like something Audi would put out direct from the factory.
I prefer the B8 curved style, and on those, the "strip" of LED's is not nearly as long and doesn't extend fully from one side to the other, and sits back a little from the clear housing.
But props on doing it, and good work. Just not what I envision them looking like in order to match the Audi style of the real things.
I think a little more thought and different prototypes need looked at before just throwing a strip across the bottom butted up to the clear housing like that. They should sit back further and have some flow to them. That's where I'm sitting right now. I've got a ptorotype made, and I'm letting it sit for a few days and coming back to it to see if it still strikes me as "right". If it isn't I start over with the foam molds.
Please don't take that as a knock, because I'm sure many will hate mine when I'm done with them. If YOU like it, that's all that matters.

The chickenwire grille with no rings and an exposed divider behind it… The ghetto modded halogen headlights with the cheapest Chinese blue tinted HID kit available and a strip of Christmas tree LEDs… Hey, I just call it like I see it. What you’re doing is the opposite of clean… Looks gaudy imo, especially when the rest is stock like the unpainted lowers.

I'm not picking on you, and you could have a set of BBS LMs for all I care and I'd still consider the front of your car cheap looking... Regarding my wheels, if you had to drive on the same roads as I do, you wouldn't consider anything more expensive either.

There is a line between criticism and being a deush, so if your going to be a critic atleast be informed.

For one that chinese bulb kit is made by phillips and is 6500K, hardly ghetto. The leds fit the project well and although im not 100% pleased with the project it was a starting point and the first on this B6 forum. And that chicken wire grill was not cheap, and is made by Kamei.

Oh and your poor road conditions are hardly worse than mine here in calgary with constant construction.

And the led strip was not simply placed in the housing.

    Two problems:

    1. I'm not sure about Phillips, but Philips, the German manufacturer with only one l in their name doesn't manufacture anything over 5400K, so either you're making shit up, or you're the one who needs to get informed.

    2. The ghetto part is the installation of aftermarket HID kits into halogen housings (illegal, glare, ricer blue light... countless things wrong with that, educate yourself: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...s/Hid/HID.html)

    Btw, it's douche, not deush

IMO if you really have nothing to nice to say then move on to the next post. There is honestly no reason to bash the mans car. You must have been one of them nerds in high school that I punkd all the time. Now you feel as if this is your way of being a internet tough guy.

man you seriously don't get the point. I welcome the criticism on this site, most go about it with class. You don't. How the fuck can you say that i'm doing something stupid to my car? its obvious from your obnoxious comments that you have never strayed too far from the pack, and being a follower is all you can comprehend. I threw a couple mods at my car to individualize it, and do something different. I enjoy working on my car, its my release, and trust me being a third year petroleum engineering student i need as much relax time as possible. so throw your comments and criticism into my posts, just dont be a deush' about it.. and yes i know how to spell douche', but im not talking about feminine hygiene, im talking about you being an ignorant ass.

for those that like em', thanks. for those that don't, thats cool. it was a first run. I agree they would look way better further spread apart, with bigger diodes.

your bend the tab down, and when you pop the hood the tab is between the bumper and the grill. its easy, and you avoid the hole.

My criticism was that it's cheap and I said it's cheap... How would you want me to class it up? And yes, putting ricer blue HIDs into halogen housings is stupid, for so many reasons, chief among which is putting vanity before functionality and safety. It's the truth, no matter how "cool" you think it looks, including the gaudy LEDs...

Re: B6 Custom LED Headlight pictures and video as promised

I've never personally Held one of these LED strips,

but if your time allows for it, maybe OP, you can disconnect? every other Led in there, so you don't have to destroy the LED Strip.

That way it looks like you have some separation in there, you don't have to toss the whole project out the window.

Also, you could consider: instead of disconnecting every other light, you could route them to a potentiometer, whereby you permanently dim them to a very low, or Medium (whichever looks better), to create the illusion of separation, even though they are still on ever so faintly.

unfortunately- these flexible LED strips are made in 3 increments and are fused together to create a string or a ''strip". turning off every other ''diodes'' is impossible. the only other alternative is to use 3mm or 5mm individual LEDs, mounted in a custom holder/housing, and gotta figure in the necessary resistors for each leds. OR u can just buy them already with resistors attached. ived had experience on these strips- and they didnt last very long and had to upgrade to indvidual LEDs. just my $.02
