vibration on deceleration

im having a new issue with my car i get a vibration or higher pitched resonation sound comming from what i would assume is my exhaust on deceleration. it only happen on decel between 3-4000 rpms, does not matter if the car is cold or hot

any idea's to bounce off of me.. im thinking something broke loose in the cat

Do you mean your car shakes? Or you get a sputtering noise from your exhaust?

no off roading

car dosent shake.. you can feel the vibration when you can hear the sound.. no sputtering.. just the same popping noise on decel from the exhaust that its always had

I had something like that when I had a heat shield damaged an resting on the exhaust. It was flooding here police where redirecting track down a road with about a foot of water and it tore offthe front two mounting points on the heat shield causing it to push on the exhaust. It only made noise at 3000 rpm or so.

which heat shield is that the one that runs above the cat between the car and the cat ?

It was the one right behind the tranny in between the drive shaft and the exhaust but it almost sounds like you have a similar issue. If it sounds like it is coming from under the hood check there.
