    sooo i just finished installing new turbos and a new oil cooler (oem one) because my old turbos failed from colant in the oil ... now im driving on the high way messing with an sti and then i saw smoke come out of my exhasut .... when i got to where i was going ...... i reved my car and some white smoke came out ..is this just coolant in the syatem burning out from before or whats going on? i did a compression test and everything was fine ....so any thoughts guys?

    it's either residual from the install or blown turbo's. If it's a little and dissipates over the course of 2-3 days then it's residual. Usually blown turbos are pretty easy to identify by the large amounts of smoke they cause. A compression test isn't going to diagnose turbocharger problems. The 2.7 is a realiable block anyway, it's the turbo's that make it a weak engine overall, and before you ask, yes.. people have blown turbos before they have 10 miles on them, so it's possible.

    I'd bet it's residual first though, you'd be surprised what collects in the exhaust when you're not looking. Go do a bit more driving during the next couple days and check the amount of smoke again.

    blown turbos is blue smoke and the smoke wouldn't smell so good

    Yeah, I'm sure its residual. What turbos did you end up putting in? Weren't you looking at porsches or was that someone else?

    yea new turbos theyre k04/rs6 hybrids and they sound great i guess im just paranoid .... hopefully the smoke goes.... the car is fast as hell though lol

    did you go easy on the turbos for a thousand miles, or did you cane it as soon as it was done?

    yea didnt go easy on the turbos but theyre not like an engine the tolerences are alot less therefor no brreak in time
