Since 1989, fuel injection has been in every vehicle produced. (<-which is a lie) Fuel injected vehicles run on an ECU or PCM board which are basically fancy terms for a computer. The black smoke is unburnt fuel coming out in a liquid/gas form. This unburnt fuel should stay in your gas tank. There is no need to throw money out the window. When your air/fuel ratio runs at stoichometric levels you are getting optimum performance along with better gas mileage.
