Pwer lock Pump Bad!!! need help

The locks on my B5 won't work anymore and my guy at the local tuner shop said that he's seen this before and that its the vacuum pump. I was curious if anyone else has run into this and if it is able to be done by myself with basic tools.

    Would a Jetta/Gti/or a a passat pump work on my a4???

sucks having to open your door with the key and having to tell your passengers to lock the door every time

My pump on my car went out before. Its in the trunk. When you try locking the doors do you hear any sound coming from the trunk?

The pump for the central locking system is located in the right-rear of the luggage compartment under the luggage compartment trim.

After the car has been parked for a lengthy time and/or after replacing the central locking system pump, the central locking system will not function properly until prompted repeatedly.
When the system is operating correctly, all locks will close within 2 seconds .
If the pump operates for longer than 5 seconds , there is a leak in the system.
When there is a leak in the system, the pump must not run for more than 30 seconds . The pump's control unit must shut it off at this point.
All the lock actuators are equipped with special vacuum line connectors that must lock when plugged in.

    But first
check Fuse 38 - Its the Luggage compartment light, central locking system 15A
And fuse 6 - Central locking system 5A

Check your owners book for fuse number locations
