I used to be a Service Advisor for a local Audi dealership and about twice a week that same complaint came up. As they said, you just have to be extremely carefull !

They had to fix mine twice before it worked properly.

I actually removed the piece and melted a paper clip into it.
Did not bother even to go to the dealer.

I really dislike that the sun shade screen is not a solid piece.. doesn’t do nothing

And also would the part number be the same for the latch on the rear shade?

The best way to prevent the latch breaking is to hold the button down as you close it, and once you're certain it's in the position to, release it slowly and let it lock. Same goes for opening, just have to make sure its not closed when it could hit something.

    Open Sky... Why bother ?

Yet another reason why I didn't order my new A3 with Open Sky !

    - Broken locks
    - Reduced head room
    - Sun shade is a real JOKE !!!
    - Adds extra weight to the roof of the car
    - A whole lotta glass breaks in a roll over accident
    - Every sun roof I've ever had eventually leaked

My Audi sales rep thought I was crazy not ordering Sky Roof. They order about 90% Sky Roof for their dealer stock.

Hello. I ordered front & rear roller blind bow last week. #8P4877307B78W (front) & 8P4877307C78W (rear). They come with replacement instructions for the front only. The front is easy because that part of the sunroof opens, so you can change it from the top. The back, I'll have to pay somebody to change that one. Unless I can find a video or pictures for that. And yes the latch/clips are plastic very delicate.

Same problem with the rear shade in my A3. do you have to replace the entire Bow? you can't get the small plastic insert? anyone have a good hack that will hold up better than the stock?

Love my A3, but that latch breaking is bugging me. I might look at trying to devise a better way. Do you have to order the whole bow? or can you just order the small plastic insert?

I guess I'm just weird but I never use the sunshade. I never open it unless I clean the window.
