Lowering springs is a cheap way to enhance the look of your car by lowering it. It improves lateral handling marginally because it lowers the center of gravity but it degrades ride quality because the spring rates don't match the valving of the shocks. This is also the reason why using lowering springs shortens the life of stock shocks. As with everything in life, you get what you pay for and if you only change springs, you will eventually have to pay more when you have to replace your shocks. The irght way to upgrade suspension is springs/shocks or coilovers.
It helps to have a technical understanding of something before you start calling BS on something you admit not to know about or understand.
To the OP: Our cars use a diverter valve, not a blow-off valve and you don't need to upgrade the DV or the fuel pump to run a chip. Chipping your car is the best and cheapest performance enhancement you can get. Do a search but APR, Revo and GIAC are the most widely used. Go for it.
