    4.2L V8 conversion into a 2.7T

anyone knows more info on that car Vast built? or anyone else did this yet to a 2.7T?

    thanks

    story:
had problems with my transmission; took car from bad mechanic, drove home, on way home car started overheating, then turned off and didn't start block away from home; pushed the car home; sat for 1.5 years; changed transmission - went to check why no start - saw ripped timing belt

so, this is probably a 0 interference engine, and head(s) are toast, and who knows what else down in the belly of the beast; so maybe a 4.2L V8 isn't that bad of a solution?

not in hurry to fix or anything, and won't part out; just another long term project

if I remember right, Vast did a transplant, and that car was still geting good 30mpg "back then" because car was a 6-speed

vast did a 4.2 from s8 in c5 4.2 with 6 sped manual, you on the other hand have a 2.7t body with shorted front end....but it was a b5 with 4.2 so i would say its possible, but maybe just better to fix your engine and do a stage 3 ;) it should be less headacke and less money.

You would probably need to source pretty much the whole front end. The 4.2 is like 3 inches longer in the nose. Thats why the lights, hood, etc don't fit on regular body C5's.

I am almost positive they started with a 4.2 as well.. I mean, just look at how little room you have in front of the 2.7 and imagine an engine 2 cylinders longer...

that is not the car I'm talking about

on their website they have a silver one under projects, that's not the one either

they had a light colored one (silver or maybe tan like your's and mine), when they first put the video out (or someone found it) it was a C5 A6 and everyone (atleast thought) that it was either a 2.7T or a 2.8 body, but it said a 6spd in the video so it must have been a 2.7T
