Has anyone here run the General Tire Exclaim UHP?

I know some people are inclined to reply negatively because they are cheaper than the higher end brand names. Please ignore the price in this post.

Have any of you run the GT- Exclaim UHP? One of my buddies with a b5 is running them and he loves them. Runs the car hard with no complaints. My mechanic is also raving about them.

If you can you please post your opinion?

I have had two full sets of them. Better than the Kuhmos I was running before them. Great price, last just as long and the grip has been better. i would recommend them highly.

I ran those on my 19's last summer. Good dry grip, but a little noisy. But for the cost, was a great compromise.

Heard these are excellent value, I wanted to get them in 18" but the load/weight rating wasn't high enough.
It looks like it works for S4 in 19" though

I cant even begin to tell you how awesome these tires are... NO NOISE to whoever said they were noisy probably had a bad batch.

I wore a set out on my b6 2 years ago.. put 25k on them, with proper rotating and balancing ever 5k miles or so, they were EXCELLENT. The day i took them off, its because winter was approaching and they were BALD, not because they were NOISY. No vibrations, and my current s4 had them also.. NO NOISE/VIBRATION. Excellent grip. cheap.

Make sure you stay on top of rotating every 5k or they will become noisy. Even with the added weight of the s4 they drive amazingly.. these are 19s btw. highly recommended

The tread pattern also looks nice, unlike kumhos or nittos or whatever the hell else cheap tire there is on the market.

had these on my 19" sportecs and i HATED them. they have very soft sidewalls and when hot they got very greasy feeling under hard cornering.

have them on my a4, like them a lot but not much to compare them to, one of the main reasons i thought i'd try them other than the price that no one has mentioned is that they are lighter than most tires

I have had a couple of sets as well and they are great for the money just try and get an XL load rated one with any size you choose if they offer it. just a little bit more expensive but definitely worth it. might save you from bending a rim or having any sidewall flex on hard cornering.

I am currently running these on my 350Z... can't complain much about them. They do squeal during hard cornering. I do enjoy them though... excellent for the price.

I have them on now (came with the car so I'm not sure how many miles they have on them). I don't think they are noisy at all. They do chirp & chatter a little during hard cornering, but overall I'm pleased with them so far.

I went through a set... They are great tires but they started getting a little noisy when they had only about 5/32 left on them.
They were quiet up until that point and I would recommend them.

I run these on my 19s. Readily available by me if I need to replace a tire which is important. Great treadware rating also good wet and dry performance.

I like the tire, no problems at all and quiet. The tread looks terrible from how the tread appears from the contact area to the top of the sidewall, sort of looks like an off road tires looking at it straight on while installed on the car.

tire company is now owned by Continental. i try not to skimp on tires since this really is one of the most important parts you purchase for your car. it is the only thing that has contact on the road. it also protects the expensive wheels you own, helps in braking, acceleration, and accident avoidance.

i would probably get Bridgestone 760's over these.

I looked into them when i got tires last week but went w/ the Eagle GT's because they scored higher on Tire Racks testing and because i got a great deal on them. The Generals scored about a 6.5 and the GY Eagles scored about a 6.8. I was kind leary of the Generals because my wife had a set in the past and they were louder than i would have cared for. UHP's are the WORST tires ever. I had them on my TT and they nearly killed me in the mountains, felt like I was driving on ice. once they gave up grip it was over, I couldn't take the ESP off because the car would be all over the road. and the sidewalls are softer than a serta mattress. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE TIRES. they are cheap but they are not worth it unless your putting them on your minivan, seriously.

The tires grip well and aren't that loud on the road, but the side walls are a little too soft for my taste. They would probably be fine on a smaller sport compact, but on a heavier audi or benz I prefer a stiffer sidewall.

I agreed, the side walls are soft. I wouldn't get them below a 40 profile tire.

But overall, they're an ok tire for a cheap price.

Waiting till the spring to decide, wheels will be here this week though
