Cabin Filter - How often do YOU change it?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
According to the maintenance records from the previous owner, mine was done last year - how often do these things need to be changed anyways?

Yes, I know I can look at the owners manual, but I wanted some real life responses.

    Thanks.

once a year. Keep the fan, heater core, and evaporator core clean and working 100%, not to mention your cabin will require less dusting/cleaning.

Passenger side firewall. Underneath the plastic covering, right next to the battery compartment.

they make two kinds, the traditional particle filter and a charcol filter which filters dust, pollen and smells, pollution, ect..

I have it since i live next to a swamp basicaly.. it defentaly helps, always smells clean in the car. I would image if you live in an urban area it would help too.

your a/c system has to work harder in auto-mode with a clogged filter versus a clean one, which can kill your compressor or blower motor over time, that dosen't mean it has to be presteigne all the time.. but it should be changed when it gets fairly dirty.

Seems like a bitch to do. We have to special order these filters? Charcoal filters worth the extra $$?

Re: Cabin Filter - How often do YOU change it?

I put 4k miles (6 months) on mine and it is already starting to get dirty. I will probably change it after the winter. I would recommend you at the very least check the condition of it once or twice a year.
