Completely lost my coolant, car towed.... Pics

Parked my car and went home, came out and noticed that



looked around and liquid was everywhere, at first i thought it was coolant flange but no signs at all except all tranny was cover liquid too dark to tell what color. So i said F that and unscrewed coolant flange and found o-ring pretty much torn.
Good thing my car is being towed tomorrow to collision center to get fixed. i got rear-ended on friday.

So now i got no coolant and no gasket. Im thinking of flushing the system, how much coolant do i need? i thought it was 4 bottles of 1 qt. each, does it sounds right to fill it up? how do i do flushing, can i use just water hose?

Hey boro.

I had a feeling it was the O-ring (like I told you on the phone). When I had to push the coolant flange into place (to screw in the bolt) it must have distorted it and ripped the ring.

Glad to hear you got the flange off though.....a new one is only like $30 at the dealer. I just cant believe that it emptied the WHOLE system....thats unbelievable (it must have to do with the cold weather, it must have turned the O-ring to become very brittle/hard, allowing the coolant to escape)

It would have been so easy to change it out on Saturday!

yea man, no biggie. Im not planing on buying new flange, i looked at mine and it was in good condition, after all it was replaced last year, i'll just order O-ring and fluid, still dont know how much i need

Well you dont need to flush the coolant because it is already all on the ground. lol

When I did my timing belt and flushed the coolant it took me 3 bottles of straight G12 (before adding 50% distilled water)

Is that the o-ring that goes on the lower radiator hose? if so, would you happen to know the part number? mind is leaking.

that's the oring in Coolang flange behind the motor, i dont know part # and nobody around had it so i just bought one from Advance that looked it, i'll install it later.

just to be clear, its towed because of dent mainly, im gonna replace O-ring myself and put new coolant in

no, i dont worry about it, only money i'll spend is new coolant. I was planing on flushing fluid LONG time ago and i guess my car had enough and just dumped on me without any help
