    HID's install...?

okay, so i just installed aftermarket HID's into my a4 that didn't have the lighting package, just the stock halogen capsules. everything came out perfect until i started the car. the loud beep beeped, but everything was "OK". the ABS and ESP light came on and i tried everything to get it off but it didnt come off. the Brake light was flashing and i did everything and still nothing. so i decided to stop the car and turn it back on and the ABS light went off along with the Brake light but ESP was still on. I turned it off and everything was back to normal again, but my question is, should i be concerned about anything after doing this? i really dont want all these random lights coming on for no reason. any input is appreciated as always. thanks

    Re: HID's install...?

This happened to me after my battery died, it seems to be normal. After a couple of starts there was no sign of it anymore. I went out and drove without the ESP for the rest of the day just to see how it would hold up if it was broken and it turned out to be completely fine.

Flashing ABS lights and brake lights can mean that your abs module is shot iirc

    Re: HID's install...?

Some of my warning lights have stayed on for up to 3 days after a modification. If it's not gone in a week, then start looking for the problem.

    Re: HID's install...?

This is perfectly normal and you're not alone.

This is common known problem when you put aftermarket HID ballast too near the ABS Module on driver side's ballast. (ABS Moudle is very sensitive to magnetic electric shock)

Rellocate the driver side's HID ballast as far away as possible from ABS moudle.
    (nearby front bumper)

    problem will go away.

    Re: HID's install...?

Re: Getting ESP, ABS, and flashing brake light error after HID install
I had the same problem as I mounted the ballast in that empty metal pocket near the windsheild washer fluid, and every time I would turn on the lights the ABS, E-brake, and ESP lights would come on, and I would have to turn the car on and off 3 times for them to clear. Then i took the headlight out and mounted the ballast on the inside of the drivers side fender as far away from the ABS module as possible and the problem went away

Re: Getting ESP, ABS, and flashing brake light error after HID install
The problem is likely caused by the location of the ballast in the car. I originally mounted the driver side ballast next to the ABS module and every time I turned on the lights, the same indicators would illuminate on the dash. When I moved the ballast to under the headlight, the problems went away.
