B5 S4(2002) or B6 S4 (2004) what would you pick?

B5 S4 is 2002 Red in color has 45K miles
B6 S4 is 2004 Nogaro blue in color has 40K miles
what would you pick guys?

what are you looking for? a v8 or biturbo v6? the b5 has moddability (its a disease though ) and classic looks, and can be made verrry quick (Moreso than the b6). The b6 has it's famed rocket 3rd gear and has amore luxurious interior

that's some serious low mileage for a B5. i'd go with the '02 but i'm biased, being this the B5 S4 forum and all...

^yes, in third gear in a B6 S4, you can beat veyrons and koenigseggs, sometimes harrier jets

I have owned both. The B6 was ok but felt slow after a month or so of owning it. But after owning my b5 for a few years now, I would never go back to the b6s4.

I had a 2005 and went to a 2001 if that says anything. The only thing that I miss about the 05 is the seats.

besides that the only other advantage the b6 has is its third gear.

the 2.7T was Audi's muscle engine replacement for the turbo I5, and since then, Audi hasen't made as nearly a mod friendly S car(or any car really..) as the B5 S4.

B6, then supercharge it. But then again, I'm biased with the B6 chassis. In honest opinion, I doubt you can go wrong with either.

There is also the budget side of it too..
I imagine that the 02 is ...7-9k cheaper than the 04
That is more than enough to make the 02 a nice stage 2 plus...figuring you spend money on brakes and suspension etc

*we* might think that the B5 looks better.. but the rest of the world are going to notice that the B6 is newer.. and generaly looks better. If he's into that sort of publicity, and some people are.

if you can do the work yourself, the B5 is worth the effort.. but might not be if you don't have access to your own garage or a nice wad of cash, there's turbocharger replacement, o2 sensor failure and transmission issues along with nice expensive stuff like timming belt jobs and the like that all cost big money. That's not to say the B6 dosent costs cash too, since the timming chain is on the back of the engine it's a nice expensive job in itself, however, that said it is far less worry-free than the 2.7T.

I'm partial to turbo engines because of the power to mpg ratio (not counting vettes which apparently get pretty good mileage). I am pretty sure insurance on the B5 would be noticeably less than the B6. B6 will probably be a bit more reliable and comfy. As everyone said if you like to mod then B5 all the way, but if you are strapped for $$$ then get a B6 and race everyone from a roll in 3rd gear.

Having both, they both are beautiful machines and both have their own unique qualities that make them great cars. IMO interior styling in the B6 is incredible. The V8 sounds beastly and exterior is also very classy and tasteful. Mods are mostly non-existent in the engine wise unless you decide to cough up big $$$. Great DD. But my pride and joy is my stage 3 B5. Drives great, awesome power for about difference in price in B5-B6, interior/exterior styling is just as appeasing as the B6 IMO (biased).

Go B5.
