has anyone done this in an A4 yet? I've seen a couple S4 guys do it, but nothing to speak of over here.

seems pretty fucking cool unless you guys know something I don't.

    Re: WOT Box

if you do a search you'll find several folks who have this on now. The company that sells it is also on the forum, the launch control is so so for our cars due to boost, but the WOT shifting works well.

Martini from the b6 forum has a DIY on A4mods with wiring diagrams. I've got it but yet to install

There is a guy with a b6 a4 1.8t running one of these units. I forget his name. He runs the a4 mods site.

I searched N2MB and WOT BOX and came up wth nothing in the B5 A4 forum but I'll check again. What setup are you considering it to be so-so for? kox series, BT, BAT?

Funny that you seem to always talk it "UP" but yet last I checked you dont even use it on your car.

He only uses it for "WOT shifting" and NO longer uses it for launching beacause he was able to get better 60 fts just doing a normal launch. Plus since he installed the product the car has done nothing but misfire in high gear at the track.

    Here is his post.

There are even some S4 guys that have tried it and have taken it back off their car.

BTW a little odd that not long after he used the product at the track a few times he had to pull his tranny out to find his Throw-out bearing broken.

LOL. Its just a 2step that can only boost 3-5psi since it forced the engine to run on 2-3 cylinders to hold it at a set rpm.

Same with other FWD owners which is what the product works best on since those people are actual trying to decrease wheel spin during a launch.

only $130 if you dont need the 2-step, I think its cool, I've heard a couple people being sad that we cant get two step unless we go stand alone...neat product.

side note: how can you tell when your throw out bearing is junk?

When the clutch starts to drag or you hear some noise when you have the clutch pushed in.

Well those people are just the ones that cant actual learn how to launch an AWD/turbo car.

Only time I ever actually broke anything on my car is getting nuts/bolts loose and the one random event most of us have seen about my rear diff.

has he run it since, could have been a bad part, can't blame something if its not proven to be the problem.

Now how would he "prove" it was or wasn't the issue? I was just stating that it did break after he starting using the WOT box. His misfires also started after he installed the WOTbox but there isn't really anyway to prove it was causing the issue other then just taking it out.

I suppose, but in that case its not fair to indirectly blame the WOT box, Im not saying its not the issue, but who knows.

    Re: WOT Box

i really wanted one of these, the only thing in this thread that made me think twice was the part about the car misfiring like mad at high rpms... are you sure its because of the box? can it not process the signal fast enough in the upper RMPs or something? that would be a deal breaker for me.

Well when you install the product you have to cut the wires at the coil and run long wires from there to the box installed near the driver. I think he was the only one to have that issue.

That car runs 034 stand alone so he is using anti-lag which is completely different since it will produce full boost and that allows the car to be launch hard.

If thats anything close to antilag im sure running it would make launching inevitably easier.

Does it work the same way, though? Is this an ignition retard? Inlet bypass? Turbo bypass? Any of the previous, haha?

A friend has a mild (9psi) antilag on a 400whp Evo 9, if your not ready for it the thing hurts your chest on the launch.

No it is nothing like antilag. It is just a 2step that cuts off the spark of 1-2 cylinders per rotation. This means less power, energy and exhaust which in the end means very little boost. This is why most of the 1.8t's that have tried it could not make more then 3-5psi on small turbos.

Anti-lag retards timing to the point that most of the fuel is being burned well after TDC causing the velocity of the exhaust to increase right as it flows thru the turbo. This still produces high amounts of power.

If you think 9psi is bad, I used to do it making 32psi on a GT35r.

If you mean anti-lag, on our cars, yes (for the most part)

On the majority of japenese cars though, its pretty simple to just piggyback the ecu to run the setup.

and mike 2.0, a 32psi antilag setup? or did you mean your car boosts at 32psi?

On the evo, its a 9psi boost buildup for the antilag but the car hits 22psi on the stock 16g at around 6 somthin. If you did mean a 32psi antilag setup i'd imagine thats a massive kick in the gooch.

Both. With the anti-lag active I can hold 32+psi while waiting to launch.

Most of the Evo's can hit 10-15psi with the OEM 2step, but most of the time that isn't enough to get the car out of the hole. When I did the driving in my friends EVO8 I had them turn off the 2step because I had never used it before and I have no problems actual launching an awd/turbo car just doing a normal WOT launch.

Here in case you haven't seen the video, I am the one running it down the 1/4 mile.
