    Re: Piston Coating

Swain Tech has been coating for decades and offer quite a few different thermal and low friction coatings. Both companies offer similar products, neither superior to the the other, although I believe Swain may offer a few coatings that PolyDyn may not. Jet-Hot is also another viable option. It's all preference and are all the same difference.

a very few people use it with their cars on these forums.. mostly GT guys, just search around some of the GT build threads and you can find some people. It's not new technology as other's have said. I've never seen hard evidence that it acutaly helps.. not to say that it dosen't, I've just never seen evidence. I'd also be concerned about how helpful the coatings are in the long-haul. Again though, that's not going to stop me from getting it done when do my engine build.

    Re: Piston Coating

my recommendation is to not do it. That coating usually comes off and sticks to the rings. Guys making 1000hp don't run it anyway so why put it on a street car?

    Re: Piston Coating

cool. Thanks for the info. A couple of older chevy and ford guys recommended I do this while my block is apart for the rods/bearings. Still deciding. One of those guys is running it in his 69 vette. He has a little more time on that rebuild, mostly painting, so he hasnt given me the first-hand with this particular company (which right up the road from me). Will search again for some more info, but all inpu is greatly appreciated.
