    Any idea by how much the revs will drop?

    IIRC @ 80mph a 5spd tranny should be at ~3800

    Sick, I've wanted one of these for some time now. Oettinger used to make a 4th and 5th gear set, but don't anymore. Good to know this will work. Might do it when I drop my tranny in the spring to put in a new clutch. Keep us updated Greg!

    This is a must for a 5 speed trans. I think its ridiculous how the gearing is in 5th gear right now.

    At 162 mph the revs are at ~7500rpms. Still a lot of room left with an 8500rpm rev limiter. The 5 speed isn't all that bad, but it sure can be better with a taller 5th gear...

    I had my 5 speed read 155mph at like 7200rpm. I think 80mph is right at 4000rpm

    Look how the taller 6th gear helps in the 01E trans (B5 S4)

    I know its not apples to apples but it gives you an idea of what is capable.


    What I like is having the shorter gears in 1-4 and then the overdrive in 5th. Esp for the highway driving I do.

    Back in '00, my friend's MKIV Golf had a TDI 5th (with a Peloquin diff) and it was a hoot to drive. That car with the 2.0L and the turbo he had at high boost was FAST on the highway. We'd pull well over 150mph all the time like it was our job. It helped that he has a 'badge'.
