What color should I paint it?

So I made the bad decision of parking under a tree for a few days only to find that the sap from it dug into my paint. I talked to Grouse on here and he thinks that the way to go is a repaint. I talked to my insurance and they agreed to repaint the car. The question is, what color should I go with? Right now it is Brilliant Black, which I love, but it is a bitch to keep clean. I was thinking of Ibis White, what do you guys think? Please include photos if suggesting a new color!

you are repainting your whole car??? WOW that's crazy. Why not do a color that no audi is to be different? And I hope you are going to keep the car for a while for it will be hard to sell with the title saying it was black and is now white! Good luck!

I was actually thinking of going with a stealthy look like the matte black, but I want something that will appeal to buyers, as I will be selling it in 2012.

I also don't really like the green or yellow on the b7. I remember seeing a thread a while ago about a type of grey that only a few B7's had, anyone remember it?

Just so you know, if you repaint the whole car you have to get the registration and VIN information changed so the DMV has a record of your car being a different color, which is a pain in the ass. Not to mention the labor/process of getting the entire car painted another color.

Why not take it to a detail shop and have them buff the car. Butting heats up the clear coat and takes out all the blemishes. I had my black b5 detailed after I couldn't get dried asphalt off of it, and it came out perfect. I assume this should be just as easy!

Dude, you’ll loose so much value of you car, especially if you want to sell it in 2012 if you re-paint it. IMO, just get it detailed, you’ll be glad you did in 2012. Plus, they have to strip you whole car inside out, when you get your car back you door panels may rattle, you may find stains in the interior and you will definitely have the smell of paint lingering in you cab for months. I speak from experience. Having said all this, TO EACH THEIR OWN and good luck!

Ive seen a Papaya Orange B7 S4 Avant here in cincy, it doesnt even look that orange, more just a little darker then imola Yellow. My dealer also just had a Grey Pearescent custom ordered S5 come in, looks alot like dolphin grey only its pearl, very cool looking up close. But I agree with the others, it will only make the car harder to sell in the end.

Double check with your insurance company, but repainting the car is different than a color change. A repaint is just taping off and repainting the exterior. For a color change you would need to also paint door jambs, engine compartment, underside of hood and trunk, trunk jambs, sunroof jambs, etc. Unless you got something special going, there is no way an insurance company is going to pay the extra labor/materials for a complete color change. Unless a color change is done right, don't do it.

They may not even go so far as actual "paint" and only re-clear if the damage is only in the clear coat. Again, double check with your insurance company and make sure you are both on the same page.

If they are going to repaint and you want to change something, I think the most you should do is add something special to the black to make it different. You can add more metallic to the paint or a tint to the clear. Both will make a noticeable difference in the look and help to hide dirt, without going overboard.

Just my .02, but I would leave the color alone.

Taking it to a detialer will do nothing. The sap has dug through the clearcoat and is extremely close to the actual paint. Grouse, the detailer closest to me, has recommended respray. It is over about 3/4 of the exterior of the car. I would rather get the whole thing repainted because I don't want to run the risk of color mis-match. I wouldn't mind terribly sticking with black, I just want it to be perfect.

1) Brilliant Black in the best color.

2) Insurance will probably only pay for clear respray.

3) I hope you read the link I posted. A quality color change is very expensive, will severely devalue your car and your car will never feel the same again because it has been stripped and put back together.

Just get the car re-cleared and call it a day.

Like I said, I really don't mind black when it's clean, so just getting a reclear might be the way to go if the sap isn't into the color coat yet. Thanks for the advice everyone!

I am definetely going to go with a respray now. I just went down to the dealer I bought it from and scoped out all the Audis in the lot, and I definetely think Black looks the best/classiest. I'm just not looking forward to polishing it more often. Oh well.

False Statement. Worst color to keep "clean". Every finger print and dust particle shows. dry car after rain looks like your car has dust drops all over it every time...
